About the Recipe

These BBQ Chicken Tacos bring bold Southern flavor with a zesty twist. Tender, juicy chicken is slow-cooked until it falls apart, then tossed in Hill’s BBQ Sauce — a rich, tangy sauce with a kick that transforms every bite. Wrapped in warm tortillas and topped with fresh, crunchy slaw, these tacos are easy to make and packed with flavor.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs

  • ¾ cup Hill’s BBQ Sauce (plus more for drizzling)

  • ½ cup chicken broth or water

  • 8 small flour or corn tortillas

  • 1 cup shredded cabbage or coleslaw mix

  • ½ cup diced red onion

  • ½ cup shredded cheese (cheddar, Monterey Jack, or pepper jack)

  • ¼ cup chopped fresh cilantro

  • 1 lime, cut into wedges

  • Optional toppings: sliced jalapeños, avocado, or sour cream

Preparation

Instructions

1. Cook the Chicken in a Slow Cooker

  1. Place chicken breasts or thighs in the bottom of a slow cooker.

  2. Pour in chicken broth (or water) and ½ cup of Hill’s BBQ Sauce.

  3. Cover and cook on low for 6–7 hours or high for 3–4 hours, until the chicken is tender and easily shredded.

  4. Once cooked, shred the chicken using two forks right in the slow cooker and mix it with the cooking juices for added flavor.

2. Warm and Sauce the Chicken

  • Drain off excess liquid if needed, then stir in another ¼ cup of Hill’s BBQ Sauce to coat the shredded chicken evenly.

  • Keep warm until ready to serve.

3. Warm the Tortillas

  • Heat tortillas in a dry skillet for 30–60 seconds per side, or wrap in foil and warm in a 300°F oven for about 5 minutes.

4. Assemble the Tacos

  • Spoon BBQ chicken onto each tortilla.

  • Top with shredded cabbage, diced red onion, cheese, and cilantro.

  • Add optional toppings like jalapeños, avocado, or sour cream.

5. Finish & Serve

  • Drizzle extra Hill’s BBQ Sauce over the top for that zesty, peppery finish.

  • Serve with lime wedges and squeeze fresh lime juice over each taco right before eating.

Serving Tip

These tacos pair perfectly with coleslaw, grilled corn, or baked beans. They’re great for weeknight dinners, game days, or backyard gatherings — and they taste even better with an ice-cold drink in hand.
